Cassandra & Jeremy Thurswell, Co-Founders of Kitsch
Some startup stories start with pitch decks and capital. This one started in a garage, with handmade hair ties and a cold call list.
Cassandra and Jeremy Thurswell are the co-founders of Kitsch, the self-funded beauty brand now sold in more than 20,000 stores across 27 countries.
They’re also joining the Beanstalk community. A fitting moment for two founders who’ve built something durable, accessible, and completely their own.
Cassandra launched the company at 25 from her apartment in Los Angeles. She made the products herself, called boutiques during the day, and sold door to door when needed.
It was her seventh attempt at a startup. She fondly calls the first six her “cheap MBAs.”
Kitsch has never raised outside capital. Every step of growth came from pace, not press. Jeremy stepped into the operations role, helping to refine the product pipeline and keep momentum behind the scenes.
Pricing has always been part of the brand’s philosophy. Nothing in the line costs more than $28. That's a reflection of Cassandra’s Midwestern roots and their shared belief that good products shouldn’t be out of reach.
That cool mindset extends to sustainability.
Through a partnership with 4ocean, Kitsch has helped eliminate more than 18 million plastic bottles and remove over 700,000 pounds of ocean waste. It's a brand cleaning up both the beauty aisle and the beach.
Cassandra and Jeremy will be at Beanstalk, joining a group of builders who’ve grown on their own terms and done it with care.
