Joey Gonzalez, Global Co-CEO of Barry's

It’s not unusual for people to rise internally in early-stage startups.

But to go from client to instructor to Global CEO of a fitness brand with studios in 15 countries? That is rare.

Now Joey Gonzalez is stepping into the Beanstalk room to talk about what that kind of journey really teaches you—especially in an industry where authenticity, energy, and community matter as much as scale.

It’s a perspective that comes from working every layer of the business.

Joey’s path wasn’t just upward, it was immersive. It shaped how he scales, how he hires, and how he leads with the kind of clarity that only comes from proximity.

Over the years, he’s helped the brand expand from 14 studios to more than 90, serving over 7 million client visits, and building a reputation as a community-first fitness destination.

That energy held steady when the industry faced its biggest challenge.

When the pandemic hit, he moved quickly. Joey helped launch Barry’s Outdoor, turning parking lots into open-air studios so the brand could keep moving and serve its community in real time.

Joey’s personal pace matches the brand he leads. Every week, he trains for over 700 minutes across strength and cardio while raising two kids and leading a global team. That level of discipline is reflected in the product.

He has also brought a strong creative lens to Barry’s visual identity. His office features a collection of vintage skateboard decks from Supreme and Palace, a nod to the culture-driven details that help keep the brand sharp.

Joey brings the perspective of a founder-operator who has grown alongside the business he leads. He brings a rare kind of leadership to the room, and we’re ready for it at Beanstalk.
