Jennifer Hyman, Co-Founder & CEO of Rent the Runway
Jennifer Hyman saw something most people missed: ownership wasn’t always the right answer.
As Co-Founder and CEO of Rent the Runway, she turned that insight into a company that reimagined how women engage with fashion.
What began as a fix for a one-time purchase became a category-shaping platform – and she’s now bringing that story to Beanstalk.
The idea started close to home. After watching her sister spend $2,000 on a wedding dress she’d wear once, Jennifer spotted a market gap and moved quickly.
In 2021, she took Rent the Runway public, marking the first IPO led by a female CEO, COO, and CFO. The offering raised $357 million and reached a $1.5 billion valuation, signaling what modern leadership in consumer can look like.
That milestone wasn’t about visibility alone. It reflected how Jennifer has approached building from the inside out.
At Rent the Runway, she restructured the company into four small, autonomous teams—each designed to move fast and make decisions with clarity. The structure supported a culture of ownership and speed, even as the business scaled.
Her influence extends well beyond RTR. Jennifer sits on the boards of Estée Lauder and Zalando, two of the most recognized names in global beauty and fashion.
She’s also been named to the Time 100 and Fortune 40 Under 40, recognition that speaks to both the reach of her vision and the depth of her execution.
Jennifer’s work shows what it looks like to build a brand by questioning the default and how to scale it by keeping structure, speed, and value in sync.
We’re more than excited to welcome her to Beanstalk.
